WOODTURNING – INTRODUCTION
Turn raw wood into a finished object while learning safe lathe operation.
Saturday, February 14, 2026 - 9 AM - 12 PM

This class introduces lathe safety, tool selection, and spindle-turning techniques while guiding participants through the creation of a handcrafted pen.
Participants also learn how woodworking tools are shared, maintained, and used responsibly within the Makerspace.
No prior woodworking experience is required.
WOODTURNING – INTERMEDIATE
Build on basic turning skills and take on more advanced spindle projects.
Date/Time: Saturday, March 14, 2026 - 9 AM - 12 PM
Participation: Prior woodturning experience required
This class focuses on precision, surface quality, and repeatable results through improved tool control, sharpening techniques, and the use of calipers and templates.
Participants refine both technical skills and safe workflow practices needed for more independent work in the Makerspace.
This course prepares participants for more advanced turning projects and deeper engagement with the woodshop.
